Medical assistance :
On the ship there is a ship doctor. For opening times please refer to the daily board magazine. The fees will be charged to your onboard account. A separate invoice for the refund of your international health insurance or health plan is recommended. For details,please refer to your insurance policy. We recommend that you take out travel health insurance as well as travel cancellation insurance.
Each port offers a range of varied offers.
The experienced travel guide team will be at your disposal in the excursion office on board with advice and action and will help you to find the suitable excursion for you. Please note that the excursions of the first two harbors of each trip must be booked seven days in advance, so that your seats on your wish trip can be secured
Shore excursions in the Caribbean in the winter 2017/2018: the central European standard for excursion handling and implementation cannot be applied to the Caribbean. Due to local conditions and logistical changes, on trips there may be changes and delays. FTI Cruises will do its utmost to keep the accustomed, smooth running of trips. However, the cruise line asks for indulgence if country-specific restrictions should arise.
The pool on the Lido deck is filled with seawater every day if possible. Outer factors (e.g., poor sea water quality or strong sea conditions) may mean that filling is not possible in the meantime. Only the captain decides about it in consideratio of the passengers and the ship.
The ship has a library with a variety of books, board games and DVDs, which are provided to the guests on loan. The books can be lent for the length of the cruise or read in the library.
Boarding pass :
The boarding card serves as a means of board payment for drinks, excursions, gratuities, etc. All expenses will automatically be charged via your boarding pass to your onboard account , so you do not need to carry cash on board.
Board manifest :
Prior to travel, the cruise line needs certain information from you in order to compile a passenger manifest from you. It contributes to the faster official release of the ship at the various ports and reduces waiting times. This information is subject to data protection. Please send the board manifest to the cruise line no later than 4 weeks before departure.
Language on board
Aboard the Berlin, it's quite easy to feel at home in the world, which is to be explained not only by the predominantly German language on board but also by the German-speaking guest service.
Board entertainment :
Entertainment during the day is provided by a light animation program as well as presentations by lecturers. In the Sirocco Lounge there are lectures, shows and events, at the yacht club live music in the evening. For more information, please refer to your daily onboard program.
Currency on board :
The onboard currency is the Euro. In addition, all major credit cards (e.g. VISA, Mastercard, American Express) are accepted. Neither Traveller-/Eurocheques nor debit cards/Maestro card are accepted as payment on board.
Reservation documents / travel documents :
Please check upon receipt of the booking confirmation as well as of the travel documents by all means whether the information and data are accurate and complete. If you notice any inaccuracies or if the travel documents are incomplete, you are obliged to inform the operator immediately.
At the front desk, a small selection of DVDs can be borrowed free of charge for the length of the cruise and can be viewed at the TV / DVD player in the cabin.
Entry requirements :
The following entry requirements apply for German, Austrian and Swiss citizens. Citizens of other countries should contact the appropriate diplomatic missions.If only ports in the EU as well as in Norway and Iceland are called at, an ID card is sufficient which should still be valid for 1 month (Montenegro: 3 months) beyond the respective end of the journey. For all journeys, where not exclusively ports in the EU as well as in Norway and Iceland are used, each traveler requires a passport valid at least 6 months more after the journey. Children also need their own passport. Children's entries in the parents' pass are not valid.
Entry requirements Cuba in winter 2017/2018: a tourist visa required for entry into Cuba in the form of a payable tourist card, which can be purchased through the Cuban embassy or through the operator FTI Cruises GmbH. If you book the flight arrival/ departure to / from Cuba via FTI Cruises GmbH, the tourist card is already included. The tourist card will be sent to you with your travel documents.
For cruises from / to Havana (departures 12.21.2017 to 02.22.2018), a new entry into Cuba takes place after Mexico respectively Jamaica and a further tourist visa is necessary. The necessary tourist card can be purchased aboard Berlin. The current cost of € 25 will be charged to the onboard account (subject to change). Of course, you can also purchase the tourist card at the Cuban embassy at the currently valid prices. Travelers to Cuba are obliged to provide in writing proof of health insurance upon entry to Cuba which is valid for the planned length, which covers all costs incurred. Credit cards with sufficient insurance cover are also accepted. In this case, a confirmation of the extent of the insurance should be provided by the traveler in English respectively Spanish. This confirmation will be issued by the respective insurer upon request. A written translation into Spanish is recommended but is not mandatory. Insurance policies of US insurance companies as well as confirmations of compulsory health insurances are not accepted.
As of February 2017 - accuracy and changes reserved. The current entry requirements of the respective countries apply at the time of the cruise. Each passenger is obliged to inform the authorities in time before the journey.
Embarkation / disembarkation :
You should arrange your arrival / departure so that you arrive at least 2 hours before the departure the ship. One hour before the departure of the vessel the check-in ends. To give you enough time for disembarkation and the completion of required formalities in the respective countries, we ask you to plan your departure or your onward journey so that you still have enough time for it. Please note hereby also the respective distances between the port and airport. In general, you will receive detailed information about the process of disembarkation 2 days before the end of the cruise.

Guests with limited mobility :
The ship and the cabins are not wheelchair accessible and not recommended for people with reduced mobility. With the small elevator, only the following four decks can be reached: B-deck, A-Deck, Main Deck and Promenade Deck. The bridge deck as well as the sun deck can only be reached via a staircase. In most ports, the ship must be descended respectively ascended over the "gangway" (mobile access stairs with railings and 17 steps).
Health notes / vaccinations :
Before booking a cruise, please inform yourself in good time about infections and vaccinations and other prophylactic measures, if necessary, also seek medical advice.
Coffee and tea at the self-service machines at the Veranda Restaurant are available all day for free. This coffee and tea is also served after lunch and dinner at the main restaurant free of charge. Please note that it is not allowed to bring drinks on board. The security staff on board will take these off and hand them back to you at the end of the cruise.
Pets are not allowed on board.
There are several internet terminals on board that you can use for a fee.Costs are about € 0,30 / minute. The costs will be charged to your onboard account.
Cabin description :
All cabins of the Berlin are comfortably furnished and equipped with shower/WC, bathrobe, hairdryer lower beds or French bed, direct-dial telephone, TV, DVD player, mini-bar (for a fee), a lockable drawer, as well as sockets with 220V alternating current for 2-pin euro plug. Please note that the portholes (B-deck) respectively the windows (A-deck and higher) cannot be opened in all outside cabins without exception. In addition, when the sea is strong, the portholes of the outside cabins on the B-deck are closed by the cabin crew for safety reasons.
Cabin service :
The cabin service is available for you during the opening times of the restaurant . For the offer as well as prices please refer to the menu in the cabin.
Children and adolescents:
Children who are not yet three months old at the time of embarkation will not be transported. On all routes with three or more consecutive days at sea ,a minimum age of twelve months applies to children at the time of embarkation.
On board there is no special children and teen program. Likewise, there is no child care.
For the life on board during your stay we recommend sporting clothing and comfortable shoes, as well as sweater and jacket because the temperature differences between inside and outside can vary. Additionally, we ask you not to wear swimwear in the restaurants, and for festive occasions we recommend formal attire. Also pay attention to special clothing for shore excursions and for the fitness center.
Loungers respectively deck chairs:
For passengers loungers and deck chairs are available for free and with no appointment. Pool towels are provided.
Full board consisting of breakfast, morning snack ( pizza, pasta, bouillon ), lunch, afternoon snack (coffee / tea and cake) dinner and midnight snack. Start of full board on embarkation day with dinner, end on departure day with breakfast. In the evening at the main restaurant two table seating are availableThe first seating starts between 18:00 - 18.30, the main session between 20:00 - 20.30. If you want special-/dietary food, please specify this upon booking. Subject to change.

Please note that arrival/departure, parking, shore excursions, drinks, personal expenses, gratuities, pre-and post-cruise program as well as insurances are not included in the travel price.
Smoking is only permitted on the outside decks in the designated areas.
Route change :
Route changes that become necessary, that are reasonable and do not change the character of the trip are reserved.Particularly in Cuba, short-term changes of authorizations granted by public authorities can lead to adjustments of the route or berth.
Pregnant travelers :
Travelers who at the time of embarkation are up to 21 weeks pregnant must present a medical travel fitness confirmation. As of the 22nd pregnancy week, transpotation is rejected.
Seasickness has become a rarity, because of the stabilizers the ship is equipped with. However, if you suffer from nausea, please contact the reception or the ship doctor.
Each passenger is obliged to participate at the beginning of the cruise in the sea rescue drill. Hereby, you will become familiar with the safety precautions on board. The ship meets all international guidelines according to IMO (International Maritime Organization).
For souvenirs purchased ashore please note the import regulations and species conservation laws.
Spa and fitness
During your journey available for you is a limited selection of fitness equipment, a sauna, a relaxation room and an outdoor pool. Hairdresser and massages are available for booking for a fee.
Daily program :
Information about ship and itinerary as well as the program with all next-day activities you will always get to your cabin on the evening before.
At the end of a cruise, in the context of the cruise tradition it is common to reward the good service of the crew. The amount of the gratuity is of course up to you. Customary and reasonable is a gratuity of up to 7, - € per person and night. Since many invisible helpers are involved on board for your vacation well-being we allow ourselves to deduct every day quite comfortably from your bank account the recommended gratuity amount. This amount is then divided by the ship management to all employees who look after your well-being. Of course you have the option to adjust the amount at your discretion for the final settlement of your on board account.
Payment/ credit card :
You can pay for your journey reservation in advance by VISA ,Mastercard and American Express. There will be a charge which is based on the total price of your journey. The exact amount will be communicated to you before booking.
Customs regulations :
Please note the individual customs regulations of the respective countries. In some countries, the import of food, plants and animals is generally prohibited. Archaeological findings may not be exported.
